What is your vision for the Training? What would make this training something you would be delighted with? What needs would you like to meet?

What Training elements are vital for you to be included (e.g. training topics, types of activities and spaces these need)?

What does structure mean to you and how would you like to see the event structured? (e.g. theme each day, certain time spans for particular topics/themes, otherI)?

What is most important to you in terms of a training location, including host amenities (quiet, training spaces, food, accommodation options, costs for participants)?

Any thoughts about candidates doing pre-assessments/final assessments during the event? I have already been asked about this by a candidate and am curious if/how we might accommodate the request (e.g. yes, limited number of candidates or in a preferred way).

What do you think of the idea of a Partner's Program for partners and families of participants?

My husband's Alberta Land Surveying Convention offers family programming. It has succeeded in building communities in his profession; now that it has stopped in response to government policy changes, the sense of community has really diminished, as has participation. I can imagine having a program around the training could affect presence while also creating rich opportunities for learning. I can imagine it might enable some people to come with more ease, and they could build it into a family trip.

To support the creation of a budget, what would you like to have as a contribution for your training time (monetary and non-monetary)?

To support the creation of a budget, what would you like as a contribution for your training travel expenses?

Most of the locations I have contacted want a significant deposit up front to save the space (e.g. $300USD/per person or 25% of the overall cost). Any suggestions on how we can make this work, given we don't have a fund for this? One idea I had: early, non-refundable deposits to raise the money and mitigate the risk of me/us having a big bill if things do not go ahead with as many people as we anticipated. One place, the max 80 occupancy Juniper Hotel just outside of Banff, Canada, prefers people pay individually upon checking out and only asks for a $1000 deposit up front. Something like this could also be an option.

Elke, the individual, is organizing and has no personal budget for scholarships. However, I do value looking for ways to make the event accessible as well as sustainable. Any suggestions on how to offer scholarships or on what basis to make these available?

What support would you like in making travel arrangements?

What foods are essential for your well-being (food allergies/dis-eases) during the training days?) How important is it for you to be able to make your own food? For us to collectively prepare the food (The Brew Center in Canada offers this if we have insurance and someone who has a specific kitchen-safety certification and Canada has no visa requirements for training events of a maximum of 5 days)?

Sometimes trainings have a table for things that are purchasable. Would you like that? Is there anything you would like to sell while there? (Holly, I would love a set of your giraffe and jackal ears!!!)
