Meeting at work between two people.

Interpersonal Communication at Work

Even in tough environments, we can find ways to feel alive

Get a rock-solid understanding of what someone cares about – without getting crushed by the delivery. Ultimately, people are just saying what they need and it isn’t about us, at all. We can learn to find the gems and let the rest go.

You can show the way by modelling it

People learn by osmosis and when people in authority such as owners, managers and teachers model the way, the whole organization changes. Needs are more powerful motivators than fear, guilt, shame, or rewards – and the results are more lasting.

When we blow our tops, that means we care about something

When someone is upset, getting curious about what they care about can release a lot of built up tension. Something wants to be known and addressed. Seeing it is the first step to finding a solution that works for everyone.

Nonviolent Communication gives us a specific, doable,  process for connecting

Aim to connect about what everyone needs, and ask for what you need. A simple model can guide you, especially through tough conversations: Observations, Feelings, Needs, and Requests.

Working with Children (Custom Private Trainings for Kids, Parents, Teachers, or Service Providers)

Click on Book Now (Calendly) for a free, 20-minute session to start discussing what you need so that we can design a custom training for your group.

What this training looks like – both in terms of the focus of the topics and the logistics, such as the frequency and number of sessions – depends on what you need. We can explore that together, starting with a 20-minute session.

Example questions you can prepare with:

  • What are the top five issues you encounter that, if resolved, would bring ease and joy to your life? To the life of those you serve?
  • What values would you like to see reflected in your daily interactions?
  • Where are these values already present? Where do you yearn for these most?
  • Who do you want to offer a training opportunity to? Would you like to begin with the leadership team, the day-to-day service providers, parents, and/or the children?
  • What do you want to say that has not been spoken?
  • What is holding you back from sharing your truth?
  • What have you seen group members do or say that you enjoy (try to be as literal as possible)?
  • What have you seen group members do or say that you do not enjoy (try to be as literal as possible)?
  • What kinds of activities or types of engagement have contributed to transformation in the past? Which have not?
  • What would you need to know or hear to decide to bring this kind of training to your organization or group?

The first step in making a private booking is deciding where you want to have more clear, effective, and connecting communication. What are you not enjoying? What is working well, already that you want to keep, celebrate, and emphasize? If you are not sure, we can help you discover that.

The next step is booking a 20-minute discovery session through Book Now (Calendly) to create a plan together based on your needs.

Once we have scheduled your sessions, you confirm by making a group payment through the Stripe link we will provide or through Interac, in Canada. Please read the cancellation policy before making your payment.

Leadership Development, Giving Feedback & Customer Service (Custom Private Training)

Some areas of application you might consider include these:

  • Leadership development (communicating in a way that fosters psychological safety, initiative-taking, innovation, and retention);
  • Performance management feedback discussions (not which tools you use, but how you have discussions around feedback that foster growth, trust, and loyalty); and
  • Customer service (how to keep and attract customers by responding to what they are saying because it takes much more energy to gain a client than to retain one and social media has made feedback very public).

Would you like to begin with the leadership team, supervisors/managers, customer service providers, or others?
  • What do you want to say that has not been spoken?
  • What is holding you back from sharing your truth?
  • What are the top areas in which you wish to see yourself, your colleagues, or your staff grow?
  • What have you seen group members do or say that you enjoy (try to be as literal as possible)?
  • What have you seen group members do or say that you do not enjoy (try to be as literal as possible)?
  • What kinds of activities or types of engagement have contributed to transformation in the past? Which have not?

  • What would you need to know or hear to decide to bring this kind of training to your organization or group?
