Description
As part of my endeavour to create a strong Alberta NVC community, I am offering an in-person introduction to Nonviolent Communication in north-west Edmonton. NVC is the connecting, non-judgmental and persuasive way of communicating that Dr. Marshall Rosenberg brought to life around the world.
This 8-hour introduction or refresher will focus on the following areas:
1) translating 4 D’s of disconnection into non-judgmental needs language
- Shifts painful stories to create more inner peace
- Brings us closer together through mutual understanding
- Helps us separate out life-alienating language so we can connect
- Makes it more likely that our needs will be met
2) translating feelings mixed with thoughts (e.g. feel pressured, feel ignored) into emotions and body sensations internal to our experience
- Reduces triggers that escalate into conflict
- Empowers us to connect with our needs
- Makes it more likely that we will be heard
3) translating our conclusions about others’ intentions into observations
- Keeps the lines of communication more open
- Reduces inner tension and upset
- Makes it more likely that we will be heard
4) distinguishing demands from requests
- Give us a way to connect
- Helps us see there are multiple strategies for meeting our needs
- Makes it more likely that our needs will be met
Bring a lunch for enjoying in the garden, and a note-pad and pen, and come make connections with others interested in communicating in a way that brings people together at work and at home.
